Wakhan Corridor Connects Which Two Countries?

A. Pakistan and Tajikistan
B. China and Pakistan
C. Afghanistan and Pakistan
D. Afghanistan and China

The Wakhan connects Afghanistan and China. This Corridor is a long, narrow strip of land in northeastern Afghanistan. It extends eastward toward China’s Xinjiang region and gives Afghanistan a small land connection with China.

The corridor is located in Afghanistan’s Badakhshan Province and is strategically important because of its position between Tajikistan to the north and Pakistan-administered Gilgit-Baltistan to the south. Although the corridor is part of Afghanistan, it reaches China’s border at its eastern end.

Why Is the Wakhan Corridor Important?

The Wakhan Corridor is often discussed in Pakistan Studies, geography, international relations and current affairs because of its unusual geographical position. It is also significant in regional geopolitics because Afghanistan, China, Tajikistan and Pakistan are all located in or around this wider mountainous region.
