In 2025, Pakistan inaugurated its first National Artificial Intelligence Data Center, marking a major leap in the country’s digital transformation. The center was launched in Islamabad under the Digital Pakistan Vision, with support from the Ministry of Information Technology and the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB).
This data center is designed to power AI research, cloud computing, and national-level data processing. It helps government departments, startups, and universities access high-speed computing and data storage capabilities for AI-driven innovation.
Before 2025, Pakistan relied heavily on foreign data centers, which caused delays, high costs, and security concerns. With this new facility, local developers and organizations can now build advanced solutions — from traffic management to agriculture forecasting — right inside the country.
The AI Data Center is powered by energy-efficient servers and uses solar-backed systems to ensure uninterrupted operation. It also follows global cybersecurity and data protection standards, aligning with Pakistan’s National AI Policy 2024.
One key goal of the project is to train young professionals in machine learning, big data, and robotics. The government also launched AI training programs in partnership with top universities and tech firms.
