The photosphere is the visible surface of the Sun that we observe from Earth. Although it appears solid, it is actually a layer of hot gases with temperatures reaching thousands of degrees Celsius.
Most sunlight reaching Earth originates from this layer. Sunspots and solar activity are commonly observed on the photosphere.
