The Silk Road was the primary ancient trade route that connected the Western world with the Middle East.
The Silk Road is a network of routes used for trade connecting China and the Far East to the Middle East and Europe. It was established when the Han Dynasty in China officially opened trade with the West in 130 B.C. and remained open up until A.D. 1453 when the Ottoman Empire boycotted trade with China and closed them. Almost 600 years have passed since the Silk Road has been used for international trade, but they have had a lasting impact that echoes through commerce, culture, and history to this day.
