When Gilgit-Baltistan Elections were held?

The Gilgit-Baltistan elections were held on 15 November 2020. These are the elections for selecting the 3rd legislative assembly of Gilgit-Baltistan. The 2020 Gilgit-Baltistan election was held in the 24 constituents each electing one member to the 3rd Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly. A total of 330 candidates have contested elections, either representing one of the political parties of Gilgit-Baltistan or being an independent candidate for the Legislative Assembly. The Gilgit-Baltistan elections were scheduled for 18 August 2020 but postponed due to the COVID-19.

In these 2020 elections of Gilgit-Baltistan, the Pakistan Army was not be called in to preside over the polls at the Election. Mir Afzal, the Caretaker Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, stated that the current caretaker government had the capacity to hold free, fair, and transparent elections in Gilgit-Baltistan.

A total of 745,361 voters in Gilgit-Baltistan have the ability to cast vote in the 1234 polling stations across the entire province. This clearly showed an increase of 126,997 new voters since 2015 when only 618,364 people were registered to vote. 405,363 of the people registered to vote are male and 339,998 are female. These figures are clearly showing the gender gap of 9% in Gilgit-Baltistan.
